In this Course I learned foundational programming concepts (e.g., functions, for loops, conditional statements) as well as problemsolving. In addition, I learned about basic web development by building web pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript. I was able to create a web page where you can upload images and apply image filters.
More specifically I learned how to think critically about how to solve problems using programming, how to write JavaScript programs using functions, for loops, and conditional statements, how to use HTML to construct a web page with paragraphs, divs, images, links, and lists, how to add styles to a web page with CSS IDs and classes, and how to make a web page interactive with JavaScript commands like alert, onClick, onChange, adding input features like an image canvas, button, and slider. This included creating an interactive webpage where the user is able to upload two images with a GreenScreen compose algorithm using CodePen as the platform.
In this Course I learned to code in Java (BlueJ), while improving my programming and problem-solving skills. Furhtermore I learned how to design algorithms as well as develop and debug programs. Using custom open-source classes to write programs that accessed and transformed images, websites, and other types of data. I For Example built a program that determines the popularity of different baby names in the US over time by analyzing comma separated value (CSV) files.
More specifically I learned how to edit, compile, and run a Java program, how to use conditionals and loops in a Java program, how to use Java API documentation in writing programs, how to debug a Java program using the scientific method, how to write a Java method to solve a specific problem, how to develop a set of test cases as part of developing a program, how to create a class with multiple methods that work together to solve a problem, and how to use divide-and-conquer design techniques for a program that uses multiple methods.
In this Course I built on my software engineering skills, while learning new data structures. I learned how to use these data structures to build more complex programs that use Java's object-oriented features. I learned how to write an encryption program and a program to break your encryption algorithm.
More specifically I learned how to read and write data files, how to solve problems involving data files, how to perform quantitative analyses of data (e.g., finding maximums, minimums, averages), how to store and manipulate data in an array or ArrayList, how to combine multiple classes to solve larger problems, and how to use iterables and collections (including maps) in Java.
In this Course I built on my 3 year education in Higher Commercial Examination at Roskilde Business College by extensively learning about quality Customer Service. I also learned further about Shopping, Storage control, and Financial Accounting. More specifically I worked with segmentation and Retail stores targetgroups, customer base, the competetion, as well as understanding how to and improving personal sales and marketing in several medias including Social and the more conventional and traditional platforms as well.
